Ain't No Cure For The Summertime Blues

As an educator, I know I shouldn't use the word "ain't" or a double negative, but I couldn 't not express my own discontent, which is surely yours as well, that school is out. How depressing that the school year is but a memory. For all its horrors and headaches, friendships and triumphs, I'm sure you're glad the school year is over. But ironically, those same reasons you hate school are also the reasons you miss it. So now, as school rests forebodingly on the horizon, only a month or so away, there is an equal amount of dread and anticipation.

But, you try to forget about that school stuff. You relax and enjoy vacation. You remind yourself you still have a lot left. And you do.

But here at ThinkingStorm Online Tutoring, we take no breaks (nor any prisoners) during the hot summer months. We are preparing our premier online tutoring service for another successful year. School Year Coming To An End

It's June 1st and AP exams have passed and finals are on the horizon. Only a few teachers are still going over new material, while most are reviewing for the cumulative finals. The weather is sunny and classroom routines have slackened as students can feel the freedom of summer coming. But, final exams have a huge impact on final course grades and a relaxed attitude needs to be revved up to review so much material for exams. Finals are an inevitability, so you have to will yourself to prepare. It's a tough situation - wanting so badly for finals to be over and still studying enough to get a good final grade.

Here are some effective strategies when preparing for and taking finals:
-Drink a lot of water and get some excercise
-Get rest not stressed
-Eat a solid, healthy breakfast the day of each exam
-If you 're not a coffee drinker, don't be a coffee drinker during finals.
-Study everyday for at least a week before the exam, cramming the night before puts too much information in short-term memory - a recipe for forgetfulness

But before finals week comes, the only solution is to find an easy and effective way to study. You could get a group together and suffer the burden of studying together, perhaps making outlines of different chapters independently and presenting them to the group. Sometimes, though, you just have to cram solo so you are get firsthand review of all the material. But what do you do if you have questions? What happens if you don't remember a particular math problem or a chemistry equation? What happens when you need extra help to brush up on graphing those equations?

There are many ways, but you can always get an online tutor who is available anytime. What if you had an expert on call, anytime to help you? That would interest me.
